IFT-BioSim

Irish Farm Transition Bioeconomic Microsimulation.

The question

IFT-BioSim asks how a common national transition objective can create very different economic pressures across heterogeneous farms.

It focuses on who bears adjustment, who responds, and how policy design changes incidence.

What the model represents

The framework links:

  • farm structure and livestock adjustment;
  • opportunity costs;
  • participation decisions;
  • income and distributional effects;
  • land reallocation; and
  • alternative transition-support rules.

Why it matters

A technically feasible national pathway does not reveal how costly the transition may be for particular farms. IFT-BioSim is designed to make that distribution visible and to test whether alternative compensation or incentive designs change the burden.

Status

The framework is under active development. Results are not posted here until they are ready for public release.
